Some Common Characteristics of the Socio-economic Impact of the Crisis

One can deduce from the very different socio-economic impacts of the global financial crisis several factors that are more or less present everywhere. As a rule, the groups most affected are those who were already in a situation of uncertainty, i.e. children, women, and the poor. An increase in poverty and unemployment, lack of education for children, food shortages, problems due to high prices, and an increase in child mortality can be reported (see Arguello, 2010; Cohen; 2010; Elson, 2010; Montaño and Milosavljevic, 2010; de Gaulejac, 2011).
